BRAZILIAN DESIGN...IN CONTACT WITH CRAFTSMANSHIP

Designer and visual artist from Fortaleza, Brazil, Érico Gondim surprises with his manual works born from an exhaustive process of experimentation, research of materials and ancestral techniques and unusual structures.

Érico Gondim has extensive training in the various branches of design: a degree in Design from the Ceará Design Center and Visual Arts from IFCE and a postgraduate degree in Fashion Production from the Catholic University (both in Fortaleza).

She also studied Strategic Design at the European Institute of Design (IED) in Milan; in addition to a professional Master of Fine Arts degree with a specialization in Product and Space Design at Kingston University in London, England.

In Fortaleza, her hometown, she worked on various creative projects. In the arts, she produced paintings, illustrations, objects, and sculptural projects for stage sets, fashion installations, exhibitions such as Dragão Fashion Brasil from 2011 to 2019, and the Agatek stores.

As a designer, he worked on projects in the areas of graphic/editorial and exhibition design and was a consultant in social design developing artisanal products with rural communities in Ceará.

All these experiences allowed him to innovate with different materials, such as the craft collection for the Brasil Original project, the Caretas de Jardim with mosaics, the Meu Coração Coroado collection, developed in leather together with the master Espedito Seleiro, the straw objects that later became the technique used in the Vai e Vem collection and in the furniture that was presented in the Biodiversity Transformed exhibition in Rio de Janeiro and in Vogue magazine in 2016.

With these works he has already exhibited at some national and international design fairs, such as the London Design Festival with a furniture project based on Brazilian artisanal techniques (among them, the IVY Chair), the 2015 Brazilian Design Biennial, the 2016 Design Weekend in São Paulo and, finally, in the 2018 and 2019 editions of the FuoriSalone at the Milan Fair with the Vibra table and the Corrupio lamp.
