MATRIARCA...UN PROYECTO QUE EMPODERO A MUJERES INDIGENAS

Matriarca...A project that empowered indigenous women

MATRIARCA is a network of artisans from the Gran Chaco with ancestral knowledge passed down from generation to generation.

Their proposal is to put the native art of the communities wichí, pilagá, qom, qomle'ec and kolla Within reach of the world. Each piece contains a story. unique and unrepeatable .

With this spirit MATRIARCA was born and they dream of continuing to grow.

They create products made with natural fibers, such as chaguar and carandillo, native plants of the region. They also have pieces made from the wool of sheep and llamas that they raise in the community.

In union with the environment, they achieve a palette with natural dyes that arise from the collection of roots, barks, fruits and leaves from the native forest.

With more than ten years of uninterrupted work, their trajectory allows them to continue opening locations throughout Argentina and internationally with a presence in Italy, France, Japan and the United States.

MATRIARCA It is constituted as a cooperative It is supported by one of the largest networks of indigenous women in Argentina. It has an Advisory Council made up of cultural entrepreneurs, NGOs, and leading figures in the art world.

"They aim to maintain the legacy of ancestral traditions, empowering native women."

Thanks to this organizational system, the women artisans of the Gran Chaco have managed to overcome the adverse conditions of one of the most vulnerable regions in social terms, overcoming obstacles such as:

• Isolation
• Lack of connectivity
• Lack of financial education
The inability to access commercial markets
• Lack of innovation

Today, the MATRIARCA network of 2,600 women artisans has improved access to connectivity, promoting digital and financial inclusion, as well as comprehensive training for women, access to rights, and the prevention of violence, within an environmental sustainability framework.

All their products are achieved by responding to 100% sustainable production processes, with PREMIUM quality and great originality.

"At Nuevo Lujo, we draw inspiration from their products to redesign objects that bring stories to the spaces where we live."
